means the time from delivery/setup until collection.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By paying a deposit, balance, or entering into a payment plan, you confirm that:
- You have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
- You accept full responsibility for hired items during the hire period.
- You are over 18 years of age and legally able to enter into a contract.
No booking is confirmed until payment or deposit has been received.
💳 3. Payment Terms
- Full payment is required to secure your booking unless a deposit or payment plan has been agreed in writing.
- If your order exceeds £100 and is more than one month away, a payment plan may be available upon request.
- Where a payment plan is agreed, the first 50% payment is non-refundable.
- All invoices must be paid by the due date shown.
- If payment is not received, your booking is not confirmed and will not be fulfilled.
- Payment is accepted via bank transfer only unless otherwise agreed.
- Card payments may incur an additional transaction fee.
- No PayPal, cash, or cheques are accepted.
🚚 4. Delivery & Collection
- Delivery within a 10-mile radius of Sherborne is £5.00.
- Beyond 10 miles, £1.25 per 2 miles will be added.
- If your display requires setup by the Company, a service fee will be added based on time required.
- If equipment requires collection after the event, the collection fee will be charged at double the delivery rate.
Client Responsibilities:
- You must ensure safe and suitable access for delivery and collection.
- If you are not present at the agreed delivery time, you will be responsible for arranging collection at a time suitable to the Company.
- Delivery fees are non-refundable.
- If you fail to attend a scheduled collection time, no refund will be issued.
❌ 5. Cancellations & Refunds
All cancellations must be made in writing.
- If cancellation occurs 14 days or more before the event, a partial refund may be issued minus costs already incurred (including materials, stock purchases, and time).
- If cancellation occurs less than 14 days before the event, only 20% of the total booking value will be refunded.
- Deposits and first payments under payment plans are non-refundable.
- Rescheduling may be offered at the Company’s discretion and subject to availability.
🎈 6. Care of Balloons & Displays
- Balloons must be kept away from heat and direct sunlight.
- Balloons naturally expand and contract in temperature changes and may pop or deflate.
- Oxidisation (a cloudy/matte appearance) is a natural process and is not a fault.
- Balloons and props are not toys and must be kept away from children and animals.
- Children and animals must be supervised at all times.
- Displays must not be stored overnight in vehicles, sheds, or outdoor spaces.
Once delivered, collected, or set up, responsibility transfers to the Client.
🔒 7. Damage, Loss & Responsibility During Hire
This is the most important section for protecting you.
- All hire items remain the property of Meg’s Event Decor at all times.
- Risk and responsibility pass to the Client from delivery/setup until collection.
- The Client is responsible for any damage, loss, theft, interference, dismantling, tampering, misuse or accidental damage occurring during the hire period.
- This includes damage to internal mechanisms, structural elements, bolts, fixings, electrical components and decorative features.
- Accidental damage does not remove liability.
If an item is:
- Repairable — the full repair cost will be charged.
- Beyond repair — the full replacement cost at current market value will be charged.
An invoice for damaged/lost items must be paid within 7 days.
Failure to pay may result in legal recovery action, and any court or recovery fees will be added to the balance owed.
🧱 8. Wall Fixings & Adhesives
By booking, you agree to the use of adhesive hooks, command hooks, or temporary fixtures on interior and/or exterior surfaces.
While all reasonable care is taken, the Company is not responsible for minor cosmetic damage caused by such fixtures.
⚠️ 9. Safety & Allergies
- Balloons may present a choking hazard.
- Children must not be left unsupervised around displays.
- You must inform us of any latex allergies prior to booking.
- The Company will not be liable for allergic reactions where no prior disclosure has been made.
📸 10. Evidence of Condition
The Company reserves the right to photograph items before and after hire as evidence of condition in the event of a dispute.
⚖️ 11. Limitation of Liability
- The Company is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses.
- Total liability shall not exceed the total amount paid for the booking.
📅 12. Amendments
Meg’s Event Decor reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time. The version in force at the time of booking will apply.
